Miami VA Healthcare System
Summer Student Volunteer Program
The Miami VA Healthcare System’s Voluntary Service is accepting applications for its annual Summer Student Volunteer Program.
The program gives young adults the opportunity to learn about America’s Veterans and their military service and work alongside VA staff in providing the best health care to our nation’s heroes. Mernie Williams, Miami VA chief of Voluntary Service, says the program is an opportunity for youth to learn about and experience what it’s like to enter the workforce.
“The Summer Student Volunteer Program teaches accountability, responsibility and allows youth to get a glimpse into how our VA staff care for our valued Veterans each and every day,” he said. “We want it to be an experience they’ll forever cherish and never forget. Student volunteer vacancies will fill up very quickly. It’s first come, first serve, so students should apply as soon as possible. The Voluntary Service staff and I are very excited to be role models and mentors to the future leaders of tomorrow.”
Students interested in applying must be 14 to 18 years of age. Applicants will be interviewed to determine suitability and availability according to facility needs. The deadline for submitting a completed application package is May 30.
