Fisher House - Miami VAHS

The proposed VA Fisher House in Miami will be approximately a 15,000 square foot home designed with 21 private guest suites. Each room will be professionally designed and beautifully furnished. The house will include a common kitchen, a spacious common dining room, a communal family and living room, large laundry facility with multiple washers and dryers, in room telephone and TV/DVD player, and in room computer access. Most importantly, the House will have support staff and volunteers that are able to assist our military service members, veterans and their families. The Fisher House VAHS- Miami will serve Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. The Miami VAHS has identified and cleared real property on the north side of the VA Medical Center grounds and is prepared for construction. Our Task

The South Florida Community has been challenged to raise the intial $2 million dollars of seed money for this public-private partnership. The federal government will provide the land and the Fisher House Foundation will provide the $4 - $6 million more to design, construct, furnish and operate the Miami Fisher House.

A local Task Force Committee has been formed to generate interest, provide the fund-raising focus and expedite the construction of the Fisher House VAHS Miami.

So little has been asked of us during this period of our history. No war taxes, no rationing, no draft, no mandatory anything. But our obligation to our military men and women is great, the goal within reach and the reward is immeasurable.
